[10.12.11] Seaport Coffee in All Texas and Louisiana Wal-Mart Supercenters
We are proud to announce that Seaport Coffee will be available in ALL WalMart Supercenter stores across Texas and Louisiana. As of this weekend, 10/15/11, our Seaport 'Founder's Choice' Mild Roast, Seaport Dark Roast, Seaport DeCaf, and Seaport Between Roast Coffee will be on the store shelves from El Paso, TX to Slidell, LA.
This is great news for the friends, family and fans of the Texas Coffee Company and our brands of TexJoy and Seaport. We are excited to have our 100% Pure Arabica Coffee available to more folks across both states in more locations than ever before.
We love hearing from our fans and customers who tell us they love our varieties of coffees far and wide, but when we learn that their nearest retail store(s) does not carry the product or that it is not in stock, we share in their disappointment. This addition of Wal Mart Supercenter stores across Texas and Louisiana will make it so much more convenient for customers to get the taste of tradition and quality that we've continued to share for over 90 years.
Seaport and The Texas Coffee Co. hope to find our way into more stores and more states soon. So if you are not in Texas or Louisiana, please know that we are working hard to get into a grocery store or retail store near you. And remember, if you can't find it on the shelf, just ask your store manager for us by name.
Seaport is proud and excited at the opportunity to reach more people, more often and more easily at these fine stores. As always, all of our coffees and seasonings are available for purchase at SeaportCoffee.com and TexJoy.com. Seaport Coffee - family owned since 1921.
[02.01.11] Something New with Our Old Fashion Sausage Seasoning
The Texas Coffee Company, manufacturers of TexJoy seasonings, is pleased to announce the all new TexJoy Old Fashion Country Style Smoked Sausage, now available in Market Basket grocery stores in Texas.
The sausage links mark TexJoy’s first food product line outside of seasonings, spices and coffee (Seaport Coffee). It is a joint effort from TexJoy and Zummo Meat Co., makers of sausages, boudain, and other pork products. The two companies are still both family-owned in Beaumont for generations (Texas Coffee Co. since 1921; Zummo’s Meat Co. since 1908), and their products are sold throughout Southeast Texas and beyond.
Frank Zummo, Zummo Co. president, and Joseph Fertitta, Vice President of Texas Coffee Co., first discussed the idea to a small degree some months back, but Zummo had bigger plans for the venture. “We thought Zummo’s might use our Old Fashion Sausage Seasoning as part of a recipe for their sausage, but next thing you know we’re tasting samples of a whole new product with the TexJoy label,” says Fertitta. “That’s a testament to the Zummo Company’s foresight as well as their quality products and service.”
The TexJoy Old Fashion Country Style Smoked Sausage link is made with TexJoy’s Old Fashion Sausage Seasoning. The sausage can be fried, boiled, or baked, but the label makes a strong case for cooking on the grill. Market Basket grocery stores in Texas are the first to carry the product starting this month, and TexJoy and Zummo hope to expand into more stores and more locations outside of Southeast Texas in the near future. Zummo’s will be distributing the links in the stores, but they also make the links available by phone/mail order at 409-842-1810. Visit TexJoy.com for more on TexJoy seasonings and coffee. Visit Zummo.com for more on Zummo sausage links, party time links, boudain and the all new TexJoy Old Fashion Country Style Sausage. Call 409-842-1810 for mail order.

[06.09.11] Congrats to Fat Ash BBQ Team & the Big Win in Texas:
TexJoy congratulates the Houston area Bar-B-Q team of Fat Ash BBQ, named winners of the best Ribs at the Napa Auto Parts BBQ Cookoff. The win earns them a spot at the National Championship in Meridian, Texas later this year. We are proud to say that Fat Ash uses TexJoy seasonings on much of their mouth-watering, savory barbecue delicacies. Fat Ash BBQ has a history of success with chicken, ribs, and more and we are honored that our little yellow jars are in their trusty tool kit; most notably, our TexJoy Special BBQ Rub.
The 2nd Annual Napa Auto Parts Cookoff involves a wide array of cooking teams, grilling greats and smoker savants, and we are proud that our friends took home first prize for the ribs division. Fat Ash BBQ was named 4th Place Winner Overall and advance to Nationals next. Made up of family and friends, the team begins with the Garcia brothers whose shared love of grilling has grown from brothers simply having fun on the weekends to winning awards at cookoffs and winning the respect of grilling gurus across the great Lone Star State. EJ Garcia says that he discovered TexJoy Seasonings at a local BBQ hotspot during his college days at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, and has been shaking it on his culinary concoctions ever since. The wild side of this is that they have only been officially a competing team since…this year! Already they have racked up several awards and they're hungry for more.
E.J. Garcia says that they have not tried all the many varieties of TexJoy seasonings just yet, but that they are working their way down the line and the TexJoy Mesquite Shake is up next. We think we speak for many folks when we say that we can't wait to taste what they come up with next. We look forward to the new and exciting things to come from Fat Ash BBQ team and we are proud to be associated with such an involved family of champion cookers. As they say, they like to compete, but they love to cook together and spend quality family time. We can't agree more. See their YouTube video(s), and visit them on Facebook for great interaction and recipes here

[03.07.11] Brand New Bag - Seaport's All New "Fresh Valve Pack"
Seaport Coffee, the family-owned coffee brand from the Texas Coffee Company, is pleased to announce a new package soon to hit store shelves across Southeast Texas, East Texas, the Greater Houston area, and Southwest Louisiana. The new coffee bag is Seaport's "Fresh Valve Pack," sealed with a small valve on the front of the package to eliminate excess air and to lock in freshness. This valve pack allows for a more modern, slimmer looking bag on the shelf, but more importantly it allows for Seaport's coffee to be fresh-roasted, ground and packed daily, ensuring an extra quality of freshness for every bag.
Joseph Fertitta, Vice President of the Texas Coffee Company, is proud of the new coffee package and is optimistic about the consumer response. "We [Seaport] have always taken great pride in providing the freshest coffee possible. We were the first company in America to do the vacuum-packed foil bags like we use currently, the coffee 'bricks' as we refer to them...and this is a way to roast it, grind it and pack it the same day - making it even fresher."
Carlo Busceme, Texas Coffee Co. President, says that the new valve pack makes for a new, exciting and more modern look than before, but assures that the coffee inside is not changing. "The 100% Arabica coffee is still the same. All of our Seaport roasts are the same, just the new packaging makes it that much fresher. The valve pack even gives you more of that aroma, right there at the store shelf."
The fresh valve packs will be out soon, starting in the Beaumont area stores and expanding outward. The roasts include the Founder's Choice mild roast, dark roast, medium roast and between roast, as well as decaffeinated.
