BEAUMONT, TX — The Texas Coffee Company is celebrating its 100th Anniversary this summer with a new video of the family company that highlights the history, people, product, and interview vignettes as well as a look to the future.

The montage style video
shares insights of the company’s products (TexJoy seasonings and Seaport Coffee), brief profiles of people involved with the operation, and some rare historic photos. Among the nostalgia are photos from the 1920s along with the monumental first ever shipment of coffee into the Port of Beaumont in 1957.

The video includes personal stories and insights from 2nd and 3rd
generation family, former and current company presidents, and a look back on products. The video can be seen at www.texjoy.com and on TexJoy’s YouTube channel here.

“We’ve never done a video like this before. It’s our way of documenting and honoring the first 100 years and all of the wonderful people that have helped us get here,” said Joseph Fertitta, President of the Texas Coffee Company. “That includes the founders, employees throughout the decades, the families, the retailers, and of course—the customers.”

Other short video vignettes will follow on social media with interviews and reflections like the origin story of the company in 1921, the development of the of the signature TexJoy Steak Seasoning in the 1960s, and the creation of the Saltgrass 7 Steak Spice for Saltgrass Steak House.

Sales Manager, Toby Castro, adds that the videos not only honor the past, but serve as education to new customers in new markets.

“For folks who know and use TexJoy seasonings or Seaport Coffee, yes, they’re going to enjoy the stories, they’ll have fun reminiscing and sharing…but to consumers or retailers who are new to us, this helps to really paint a picture of what our products are all about, who we are, and why we care about quality spices and coffee,” he says. “This gives a peek into the company and, you know, gives some context in a meaningful way that’s ultimately just fun to watch.”

The videos are just part of what’s coming down the line from the company this summer. A new commemorative TexJoy Steak Seasoning tin will be unveiled soon as well as a new special edition cookbook of family recipes and historic photos.

2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the Texas Coffee Company. For 100 years, our family-owned company has proudly made the freshest, most flavorful coffees and spices around. Our brands of Seaport Coffee and TexJoy Café Blend Coffee continue to be served in kitchens, living rooms, coffee houses, office breakrooms, front porches, and patios throughout Southeast Texas.

As we celebrate this milestone, we thank our Southeast Texas family, friends, neighborhoods, and towns that have helped us make it a full century of brewing and serving up smiles. Though we are all ONE big family at the Cajun corner of the Gulf Coast, a few short miles from one town to the next can make all the difference in traffic times, gumbo recipes, Christmas decorations, high school football trophies, and more. These quirky characteristics inspired us to craft some fun coffee drinks for the different necks of our piney woods.

Enjoy a little local flavor with these signature sips of Southeast Texas. And cheers to the next 100 years!

Shop! Ship! And Share! We are excited to launch our new website, TexJoy.com. Just in time for the holidays, the new and improved website is built with YOU the shopper in mind. With nearly 100 years of family business, we have a big story to tell. Well, actually, we have a LOT of stories to tell! But the best is pure, simple, spectacular flavor. That's what this site design is all about: putting the premium flavors of seasonings and coffee first.

"Our new website puts the product at the forefront. We want to give shoppers what they want to see, easy navigation, and more focus on the mobile experience," says account manager, Carlo Busceme, IV. "We've kept the fun things that fans like and the history, but all in a neat and clean view."

The site highlights our most popular products and fan favorites along with featured products from season to season. Joseph Fertitta, President of the Texas Coffee Co. (TexJoy Seasonings and Seaport Coffee) says the new website is important for communicating with longtime fans and new customers alike. "We're a family company with products made for families—made for cooking and gathering around the dinner table together. We put love and care into our products, and we want that to come through in the shopping experience, too. Recipe videos, recipes, more categories for easy navigation...shop, ship and share the JOY."

Among the most popular online purchases this time of year are our TexJoy Texas Gift Boxes and sampler packs. These offer a fun, flavorful way to share the love for gift-giving or to try some of our most popular seasoning blends. Shop gift ideas here and explore our newly updated categories now!

Some months back, we received an exciting phone call from a production crew making their way through Southeast Texas. The popular SEC Network series, TrueSouth, had begun work on their new season—filming their documentary program in our hometown to do a story on the unique, regional "Beaumont-style" beef link.

In filming and interviewing the folks at the historic Patillo's Bar-B-Q and Gerard's Bar-B-Que, they learned of our TexJoy Steak Seasonings and Bar-B-Q rubs and came to check things out. We enjoyed having the cameras and crew in to see the love, pride, and care we put into our seasoning blends.

Here we are many months later into college football season, and the episode is on the air!

The episode features interviews with several folks just down the road from our spicy headquarters; Beaumont Sheriff, Zena Stephens; Beaumont native and renowned artist, John Alexander; George Gerard of Gerard's; Robert Patillo of Patillo's BBQ; and Texas Monthly editor, Daniel Vaughn. Check out the video and look for the little yellow jars with the big Texas Bar-B-Q taste!

We are so pleased to be seen in an episode about flavor and pride here at home, and we're so happy for our friends at Gerard's and Patillo's getting to share their stories and showcase their famous barbecue.

Check out the video

Have you seen the latest article on cracklins? Yep, you read that right! It's not often to find a premier magazine featuring a story about the Cajun favorite, cracklins, so when we saw this we about flipped our lovely yellow lids!
There's some mighty fine BBQ in the south, but Texas BBQ is unlike any other. A new Texas Monthly article supports this claim with some delicious details and fascinating insight into its history. Tradition is a big part of a slow-cooked brisket, a family cookout, and a memorable bite of Texas barbecue. (We think this sounds a lot like the Texas Coffee Company where we make TexJoy seasonings and spices!) This interesting article has a list of 50 years worth of BBQ in Texas, and we are proud that our friends of Patillo's in Beaumont are recognized. Patillo's dates back to 1912, while TexJoy dates back to 1921. We're proud to be a staple in Patillo's famous barbecue for generations. Check out this article and see where Patillo's is part of Texas Treasures and BBQ history.

We are proud to congratulate Gordon Morriss for placing 2nd in the Brisket category.

Morriss is generous & quick to say he cooks with TexJoy. He has used TexJoy Fajita Seasoning for years and has also used the signature TexJoy Steak Seasoning. He has qualified for the National Championship in Meridian for multiple years. And just how devoted of a fan is he? Well, we won't go into too much detail, but let's just say he could very well map out central Texas blindfolded and from memory! Like many of our customers west of Houston, Morriss relied on Academy Sports + Outdoor to carry his choice of TexJoy, but some Academy stores have recently stopped carrying (or replenishing) their TexJoy supply. So Morriss became "Magellan" and journeyed from retailer to retailer, logging many miles across Texas on his truck in pursuit of TexJoy. For that, we are thankful! Amazed and grateful. And it is our great pleasure to say that Morriss was awarded 2nd placefor his delicious, out of this world, bbq brisket.

We appreciate Gordon Morriss and customers like him who literally "go the extra mile" for great flavor. Congratulations Mr. Morriss!

As of today, our TexJoy Café Blend Coffees are being loaded off delivery trucks and onto store shelves in Market Baskets of Texas and Louisiana. Market Basket has long been an important, friendly and wonderful part of TexJoy and Seaport products, especially when it comes to introducing new items such as this new blend. TexJoy Coffee - 100% Arabica, custom blended, roasted and packaged in Beaumont, Texas - is an homage to one of our signature coffee blends of the early days of the company

Since 1921, the Texas Coffee Company is still a family-owned company and we pride ourselves on honoring our family members who started it all, who made today possible for us! This is certainly no exception. The TexJoy blend of the 1920s and '30s (and so on) was very popular, and if we had a nickel for every time we've been asked to bring it back since those formidable years , well...we could add "Savings and Loan" to our company name! Our crew has been kicking around the idea for years - decades even - and in recent years, we began to develop a carefully selected recipe that was worthy of our forefathers' great tastes. This coffee is a product of time honored tradition, family heritage, one hundred percent pure Arabica beans grown at ideal altitudes and expertly roasted to a precision that our daddies and granddaddies and great great granddaddies would be proud of...and, of course, simply great flavor. In just a couple short months, we are delighted to say that our TexJoy Coffee has grown from just a small run for sale online to store shelves in Jack's Pak-Its and now Market Basket Grocery stores in Texas and Louisiana.

So if you are in Port Arthur, Port Neches, Nederland, Bridge City, Port Acres, Orangefield, Orange, Winnie, Baytown, Kirbyville, Jasper, Newton, Woodville, Buna, Dayton, Liberty, Silsbee, Lumberton, Sour Lake, Groves (HOME of Market Baskets), Vidor, Deweyville, Mauriceville, Texas or Lake Charles, DeRidder, Cameron, Sulphur, Vinton, Iowa, Moss Bluff, DeQuincy, Jennings, Crowley, or other areas of Southwest Louisiana, or our very own Beaumont, Texas - there's a Market Basket near you with a bright yellow package of TexJoy Cafe Blend Coffee waiting for you!

It is a joint effort from TexJoy and Zummo Meat Co., makers of sausages, boudain, and other pork products. The two companies are still both family-owned in Beaumont for generations (Texas Coffee Co. since 1921; Zummo’s Meat Co. since 1908), and their products are sold throughout Southeast Texas and beyond.

Frank Zummo, Zummo Co. president, and Joseph Fertitta, Vice President of Texas Coffee Co., first discussed the idea to a small degree some months back, but Zummo had bigger plans for the venture. “We thought Zummo’s might use our Old Fashion Sausage Seasoning as part of a recipe for their sausage, but next thing you know we’re tasting samples of a whole new product with the TexJoy label,” says Fertitta. “That’s a testament to the Zummo Company’s foresight as well as their quality products and service.”

The TexJoy Old Fashion Country Style Smoked Sausage link is made with TexJoy’s Old Fashion Sausage Seasoning. The sausage can be fried, boiled, or baked, but the label makes a strong case for cooking on the grill. Market Basket grocery stores in Texas are the first to carry the product starting this month, and TexJoy and Zummo hope to expand into more stores and more locations outside of Southeast Texas in the near future.

TexJoy congratulates the Houston area Bar-B-Q team of Fat Ash BBQ, named winners of the best Ribs at the Napa Auto Parts BBQ Cookoff. The win earns them a spot at the National Championship in Meridian, Texas later this year. We are proud to say that Fat Ash uses TexJoy seasonings on much of their mouth-watering, savory barbecue delicacies. Fat Ash BBQ has a history of success with chicken, ribs, and more and we are honored that our little yellow jars are in their trusty tool kit; most notably, our TexJoy Special BBQ Rub.

The 2nd Annual Napa Auto Parts Cookoff involves a wide array of cooking teams, grilling greats and smoker savants, and we are proud that our friends took home first prize for the ribs division. Fat Ash BBQ was named 4th Place Winner Overall and advance to Nationals next. Made up of family and friends, the team begins with the Garcia brothers whose shared love of grilling has grown from brothers simply having fun on the weekends to winning awards at cookoffs and winning the respect of grilling gurus across the great Lone Star State. EJ Garcia says that he discovered TexJoy Seasonings at a local BBQ hotspot during his college days at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, and has been shaking it on his culinary concoctions ever since. The wild side of this is that they have only been officially a competing team since…this year! Already they have racked up several awards and they're hungry for more.

E.J. Garcia says that they have not tried all the many varieties of TexJoy seasonings just yet, but that they are working their way down the line and the TexJoy Mesquite Shake is up next. We think we speak for many folks when we say that we can't wait to taste what they come up with next. We look forward to the new and exciting things to come from Fat Ash BBQ team and we are proud to be associated with such an involved family of champion cookers. As they say, they like to compete, but they love to cook together and spend quality family time. We can't agree more. See their YouTube video(s), and visit them on Facebook for great interaction and recipes here

Seaport Coffee, the family-owned coffee brand from the Texas Coffee Company, is pleased to announce a new package soon to hit store shelves across Southeast Texas, East Texas, the Greater Houston area, and Southwest Louisiana. The new coffee bag is Seaport's "Fresh Valve Pack," sealed with a small valve on the front of the package to eliminate excess air and to lock in freshness. This valve pack allows for a more modern, slimmer looking bag on the shelf, but more importantly it allows for Seaport's coffee to be fresh-roasted, ground and packed daily, ensuring an extra quality of freshness for every bag.

Joseph Fertitta, Vice President of the Texas Coffee Company, is proud of the new coffee package and is optimistic about the consumer response. "We [Seaport] have always taken great pride in providing the freshest coffee possible. We were the first company in America to do the vacuum-packed foil bags like we use currently, the coffee 'bricks' as we refer to them...and this is a way to roast it, grind it and pack it the same day - making it even fresher."

Carlo Busceme, Texas Coffee Co. President, says that the new valve pack makes for a new, exciting and more modern look than before, but assures that the coffee inside is not changing. "The 100% Arabica coffee is still the same. All of our Seaport roasts are the same, just the new packaging makes it that much fresher. The valve pack even gives you more of that aroma, right there at the store shelf."

The fresh valve packs will be out soon, starting in the Beaumont area stores and expanding outward. The roasts include the Founder's Choice mild roast, dark roast, medium roast and between roast, as well as decaffeinated.

| ABOUT SEAPORT: Family-owned since 1921, The Texas Coffee Company continues to manufacturer Seaport Coffee and TexJoy seasonings and spices from Beaumont, Texas. Check out some photos of some holiday dinners, including a few from one such deep fried turkey adventure. TexJoy Steak Seasoning and TexJoy Cajun Seasoning truly are All Purpose.
